Counseling Adults
Through individual counseling, I help clients to discover what their idea of happiness and balance is, and find ways to overcome the obstacles that prevent them from getting there. I believe the relationship between myself and my clients is the foundation to making positive changes in their lives, and I provide a calm and accepting environment in order for you to feel comfortable in the counseling setting. I rely on clients to help me understand their world so that I can become their ally, then integrate different therapeutic approaches to accomplish their unique goals. I often blend cognitive-behavioral therapy, which is a means of looking at how our thoughts and interpretations of events affect our emotions in the here and now, with additional focus on your past to examine patterns that may be maladaptive. I also place a strong emphasis on stress-management techniques to help you be more adept at tackling the everyday stressors that life presents.

Counseling Teens
Counseling pre-teens and teenagers has been a passion of mine. As a middle, high-school, and college counselor, I have worked with countless teenagers and their families to help them navigate the storms of adolescence. In working with teens, it is important that I learn about their world: their music, hobbies, and the relationships that are important to them. Adolescence is a natural time for teenagers to drift away from their family and gravitate to social relationships for support. One of my jobs is to help parents and teens spend quality time together and assist parents in the (sometimes painful) process of letting their child have more freedom and independence, all with the backdrop of a secure relationship with their parent. This process is a difficult one, and to quote a parent of one of my teenagers,  "I think ALL teenagers need a counselor, what a whirlwind they go through!" If you feel disconnected from your teen, are seeing problematic behaviors or a sudden change in their demeanor, or if you feel your communication with your teenager has become strained, counseling can help. It is important to me that I form a solid relationship with my teenage clients, and then work on bridging the gap between child and parent.  I hope to help you navigate this tumultuous period and make it an enjoyable process for your family.  Adolescence can be an enjoyable period in our child's life!

Parent Coaching
Being a parent is the most important, and sometimes the most challenging role you will ever hold. We want to make sure what we are doing is right, and will allow our children to flourish and become the best version of themselves. At times, that pressure can leave us feeling overwhelmed, and that's when parent coaching can be beneficial. As a trained Positive Discipline Parent Educator, I utilize a strengths-based, skill-building approach in assisting parents to become more connected to their children.
